After attending boarding school for seven years in London, her family relocated to Toronto Canada where she lived for the majority of her childhood and early adulthood. Contractor was an outstanding pupil in Toronto and was educated to become a classical ballet dancer. The actress accepted an invitation to join Stratford's conservatory. It is a place that allows only four males and eight women can take an intensive 20-week program in classical theatre.
